The present research has taken general aim at contributing to the reflection on 9 years elementary school´s grade curriculum proposal, viewed from the relationships in the childhoods, based on the elements chosen by the children that identify the school and its practices. The proposed procedures involved bibliographic research on the subject, documentary analysis that focused on documents of official production regarding the extension of Elementary School to nine years and the conduction of conversation circles with children of a public school in São Paulo city about photograhs produced by the children of their daily routines in the school. From these materials - the images and the speeches of the subjects on the images - we highlighted possible meanings attributed by the children to the school experiences, as well as we tried to identify the space for the expression of the childhoods in the school practices of the Elementary School. The children´s expression of these meanings was analyzed according to their potential for the creation (or not) of conditions for the development of learning, or of a "relationship with knowledge" - from Charlot's perspective - in the childhood-school interface, considering the rights of the child to play, participate and learn in elementary school. The theoretical reference assumed brought the discussions of Gimeno Sacristán to problematize the marks of a school education that demands behaviors of "student". He also relied on the Sociology of Childhood of Sarmento and Corsaro to discuss not only the mismatch between childhood school culture, but to show that children's cultures strengthen the child subject in the students. Our analysis highlights situations in which children occupy the times and spaces available to create culture, even in a space that organizes the curriculum from an impoverished image of a child. We emphasize that the present school needs to legitimize children's culture, in a necessary movement of pedagogical practice, reinventing the school culture, adult-centric and homogenizing, as a way to potentially strengthen the sense of school and school knowledge.
