The Freudian discovery on the aspects of the development of infantile sexuality, presented especially in the article Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality of 1905, crossed centuries, bringing to light a discussion that previously belonged to the territory of medical sciences and sex education. By unveiling the perverse and polymorphic character of infantile sexuality, it raised questions that were troubling to Viennese bourgeois morals, resulting in accusations that psychoanalysis was pan-sexual and pornographic in character. Still, Sexualtheory gained supporters, going against the "black pedagogy" that was used to repressing the manifestations of sexuality. Freud's theory of sexuality left behind a series of assumptions about the meta psychological factors acting on the development of sexuality, such as the concepts of drive, erogenous zones and bisexual disposition. However, attempting to elaborate on the possible etiological causes of psychoneuroses and their differences between boys and girls in their crossing of the Oedipus Complex, Freud marked in his theory a biologizing deviation about the differences in sexual identity in boys and girls, which in the clash with the social sciences and feminist movements has aroused much criticism. Different social movements, such as feminism and the struggle for LGBTTQ + rights, contributed to the displacement of gender social roles that perpetuated a binary and heteromorphic norm. Leading feminist thinkers, from Simone de Beauvoir to Judith Butler, among many others, make up a critical reflection movement on the identity categories 'man' and 'woman'. The concept of gender began to be used in an attempt to denaturalize the difference between the sexes, trying to understand gender as a socially constructed phenomenon, beyond the biological one. Gender identity is then established in a discontinuous, fluid manner where sex, gender and desire are not necessarily in line, as in the case of transgenders, transvestites, transsexuals and non-binary genders. Such phenomena enter into psychoanalysis in an emerging way, both due to scientific and academic discussions, and the arrival of these subjects to the clinic. Within this framework, the objective of this research was to investigate the main concepts of Freud`s Theory of Sexuality and their extensions in Laplanche, an author who discusses the concepts focused on the development of sexuality, gender identity and gender in the light of contemporary times. Therefore, an exploratory bibliographic review was carried out, in which the selected works composed the reading in a non-systematic way but maintaining the research limits. The exposed articulation allow an overview of the place of Psychoanalysis today in this debate, as a theory and as an intervention technique, reaffirming that because it deals with subjective and intersubjective phenomena it may be at the service of an apparatus of resistance to the normatization of gender and sexes, as it is offered to its subjects a space of free listening, especially to the emergent voices and to the displacements that are being promoted in the clinic with its social transformations
