Este trabalho objetiva problematizar a leitura prevalente a respeito da situação das periferias na cidade de São Paulo, para ressaltar os impasses vividos pelos jovens negros e pobres que lá habitam. Abordamos a periferia a partir de expressões de positividades próprias à sua dinâmica sócio-cultural, em contraponto a uma leitura que vê as marginalidades sociais como simples figurações do periférico, e que hoje no Brasil orienta a maioria das práticas e das reflexões políticas sobre o território das periferias e seus habitantes. Essa leitura prioriza intervenções de um Estado portador de saberes e práticas (im)postas à disposição de uma população considerada inoperante, inculta e perigosa. Como interlocutor privilegiado para falar dos impasses vividos por esses jovens escolhemos, dentre as expressões da dinâmica sócio-cultural própria da periferia, o rap, mais especificamente o rap que vem sendo produzido pelo grupo Racionais MCs nas últimas décadas A partir da psicanálise nosso argumento é de que as produções da periferia, entre as quais o rap, têm trazido à tona o avesso de um discurso que apresenta uma sociedade que se pretende orgânica e sem fraturas, um discurso imaginário que confina, de forma prevalente, os jovens negros e pobres a categorias de violência e criminalidade. Constatamos que o rap recodifica a estrutura social, permitindo ao jovem morador da periferia a articulação ao laço social via a transmissão, que procura elevar o inaudito das exclusões e violências sofridas a uma condição de inteligibilidade, firmando um compromisso entre a memória de um sujeito e uma memória a ser construída no espaço público. Trata-se de um discurso que vem se mostrando capaz de dar corpo a uma experiência cotidiana de degradação e fragmentação, promovendo a partilha dessas experiências. É, além disso, um discurso que vem confrontando o espaço público ao interrogar a dicotomia civilização/barbárie que se inscreve de forma crescente na configuração da cidade, desconstruindo em suas narrativas um imaginário que propaga a inviabilidade política e social das periferias. Além disso, apoiados nas concepções do chiste e do humor em psicanálise, constatamos que as narrativas do rap apontam para modalidades identificatórias que se constituem a partir de uma fruição conjunta, modalidades adequadas a uma economia de prazer que subverte a posição discursiva a que jovens negros e pobres das periferias vêm sendo condenados: ou a obediência e a docilidade, ou a periculosidade e delinquência

This work seeks to challenge the dominating vision about the peripherical regions of São Paulo City, to emphasize the impasses faced by the poor black youth that lives there. We examine the periphery taking into account expressions of positive aspects that are specific of their socio-cultural dynamics, as opposed to a vision that considers social marginalization as a portrait of the periphery, and that nowadays in Brazil guides the majority of public sector policies and political reflections about the peripherical regions and their inhabitants. That vision gives priority to actions put forth by a State that dominates knowledges and practices that are offered to/imposed on a population that is considered ineffective, uncultured and dangerous. As a privileged interlocutor to discuss the impasses faced by these young people we chose, among the multiple expressions of the peripheries own socio-cultural dynamics, rap music, more specifically the rap composed and performed in the last decades by the group called Racionais MCs. Our psycho-analytical argument is that the peripheries cultural productions, among which stands rap, have brought about a testimony that turns inside-out the discourse that presents a society that claims to be organic and unfractured, an imaginary vision that confines, almost always, the poor black youth to categories linked to violence and crime. We found that rap recodes the social structure, making it possible for the young inhabitants of the periphery to get linked to the social bond by means of transmission, through which the exclusions and violences they suffer can become intelligible, creating a commitment between a subjects memory and a memory to be constructed in the public space. It is a discourse that is proving to be capable of making an everyday living experience of degradation and fragmentation be shared. And it is, also, a discourse that is confronting the public arena by interrogating the civilization/barbarity dichotomy that has increasingly inscribed itself in the citys configuration, deconstructing in its narratives an imagination that considers the peripheries politically and socially unviable. Furthermore, based on the psychoanalytical concepts of joke and humor, we found that raps narratives point to identificatory modalities that arise from joint fruition, modalities that are adequate to an economy of pleasure that subverts the discursive position to which the poor black youth of the peripheries have been sentenced: they must be either obedient and docile, or dangerous and delinquents
