Keywords in Portuguese
Autonomia
Democracia
Governo de si
Liberdade
Ocupações secundaristas

Abstract in English
This research investigated the movement of occupations of public schools in the state of São Paulo by secondary students, started in 2015. The objective was to analyze the characteristics of the movement with regard to daily practices in the occupied school, seeking to establish conexions with theoretical postulations regarding social interactions based on democratic and self-governing processes. Such postulations would be those of John Dewey and Jean Piaget, as well as Michel Foucault, who points to power relations and the possibilities of resistance through self-government. The method is in line with that of participant research and cartography, with participants being secondary students from the first two schools occupied in the state. The results pointed to a critical attitude of the movement in relation to an educational system (including the State's action) anchored in authoritarian, hierarchical and bureaucratic practices, proposing, instead, practices of autonomy, freedom and self- government, represented by assemblies, the system of communication in "jogral" and the general organization of the occupation
