Tutoria clínico-escolar

The clinical-scholar tutoring in the educational inclusive process: a case study

Abstract in English
Discussions in the legislative, academic and therapeutic contexts have sought to regulate and give guidelines on how to conduct the inclusion of people with disabilities in social, academic and professional fields. However, different ways of understanding those regulations generate applications with different degrees of success in the inclusive process. This fact can occur due to the lack of knowledge and investments in research and appropriate treatments and interventions for that population; however, the difficulty in determining the appropriate treatments and interventions to assist different types of diagnoses, certainly contributes to the consummation of this difficulty in acquiring and proposing assistance. Facing different therapeutic alternatives that aim at the inclusion of people with special educational needs in the scholar environment, questions regarding the best resource to be used may arise. This study intended to briefly present the therapeutic strategies commonly used in school settings and to investigate it more deeply, a strategy that has presented itself as a useful resource for the inclusion of children with special educational needs in the mainstream teaching rooms: a clinical-scholar tutoring. This approach is enhanced with clinical concepts and resources to carry out the educational and social inclusion of people with disabilities, tapering with different theoretical lines, but keeping its structural foundation to the clinical and pedagogical practice on Feuerstein's theory of Mediated Learning Experience (MLE). Through this intervention, in which the tutor is a mediator of external stimuli, the inclusion of children with special educational needs in regular education environments becomes more possible, aiming at facilitating both the beneficiary of the strategy and the educational institution, in the unveiling of a more fluid and harmonious process of inclusion. Based on this studys results analysis and interpretation, it can be inferred that, for this clinical case, mentoring achieved satisfactory results with regard to the participants educational and behavioral development, increasing his level of participation and activity in his social contexts. Therefore, attributing to the mentoring part of the motivation for such results, it can be considered that, for this specific case study, the strategy appeared to be a successful resource to be used in the scholar inclusive process. Considering the limitations of a case study, no generalization is feasible; however, the valuable results obtained in this research indicates a suitable and valid path for larger studies that aim at identifying the applicability of this technique to other clinical cases, stating, along these lines, an original and relevant contribution to the themes state of the art
