A Educação Superior passa por importantes transformações, provocadas pelo aumento quantitativo de estudantes e pelo crescimento exponencial de informações, que extrapola a capacidade de assimilação dos cursos de graduação. Organismos internacionais e nacionais vêm sugerindo diretrizes e estratégias para a superação das dificuldades atuais. Atendendo estas recomendações, foi criada uma disciplina prática de bioquímica, no nível de graduação, seguindo o referencial teórico sócio-construtivista. O eixo norteador da disciplina foi a simulação de um projeto de pesquisa. A disciplina foi organizada para que, por meio dela, pudessem ser desenvolvidas as habilidades e competências que promovessem a autonomia intelectual dos estudantes. Operacionalmente, a estrutura da disciplina baseou-se em (1) aulas de planejamento, que antecediam (2) as aulas de manipulação, seguidas de (3) tratamento de dados e (4) análise de resultados. Os quatro tipos de atividades eram realizados em pequenos grupos, assessorados por professores e monitores. A avaliação da disciplina foi feita aplicando-se questionários para estudantes, monitores e professores. As respostas às questões mais relevantes dos questionários foram trianguladas, permitindo compor um quadro geral dos resultados obtidos. A grande maioria dos participantes afirmou que a disciplina simulou um projeto de pesquisa, apontando características, como seqüência lógica e estímulo a habilidades críticas. Monitores e professores participantes declararam preferir esta forma de ministrar aulas práticas, por estarem convencidos de que ela leva a um melhor aprendizado.

The Higher Education has been target of important transformations, caused by the increasing amount of students and by the exponential growth of information, which is bigger than the assimilation capacity of graduation courses. International and national organisms have suggested directives and strategies to overcome the current difficulties. To attend these recommendations, a practical discipline of biochemistry, addressed to graduation students was created following the theoretical social constructivism referential. The directional axis of this discipline was the simulation of a research project. The discipline was organized intending that students could develop abilities and competencies that would promote their intellectual autonomy. Methodologically, the discipline structure was based in: (1) planning classes, that preceded (2) manipulation classes, followed by (3) data treatment and (4) results analysis. The four activities types were conducted in small groups, assisted by teachers and teaching assistants. The discipline assessment was carried out applying questionnaires to students, teachers and teaching assistants. The answers to the most relevant questions of the questionnaires were processed, and allowed the composition of a general picture of the results obtained. Most of the participants stated that the discipline simulated a research project, pointing out some characteristics, as logic sequence and stimulation of criticai abilities. Teaching assistants and teachers declared to prefer this way of teaching practical classes, because they are convinced that it leads to a better learning.
