Abstract in English
The family Lycidae Laporte, 1836, currently placed within superfamily Elateroidea Leach, 1815, is the second major family in number of species of the former groups of species Cantharoidea and comprises about 4.600 species described. In this paper is presented a taxonomic review of Macrolygistopterus Pic, 1929 based on morphology of adults. An identification key as well as illustrations of the main diagnostic characters and informations about geographic distribution of each species is also presented. Of the 12 species before described 10 were examined. M. diversicornis Pic, 1930 and M. bipartitus Pic, 1933 remains as valid species since this material was not examined on this study. M. succinctus (Latreille, 1811), M. quadricostatus (Buquet, 1842), M. caeruleus (Gorham, 1884), M. germaini Pic, 1930, M. grandjeani Pic, 1930, M. subparallelus Pic, 1930, M. testaceirostris Pic, 1930, M. simoni Pic, 1930 and M. kirschi Pic, 1931 were revised and redescribed and remains as valid species. M. bilineatus (Pic, 1923) is recognized as junior synonym of M. quadricostatus (Buquet, 1842) and M. succinctus var. scutelaris Pic, 1930 is recognized as junior synonym of M. succinctus (Latreille, 1811).
