A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo apresentar o desenrolar das relações entre Brasil e Moçambique no período analisado. Para tal, o trabalho inicia-se com um estudo dessas relações na longa duração, desde meados do século XIX e o auge "tardio" do tráfico de escravizados entre Moçambique e Brasil; seguido pelo período de afastamento entre Brasil e a África como um todo após a Abolição; e posteriormente, por uma reaproximação que, desde a Independência de Moçambique, em 1975, conheceu altos e baixos. Em meio a transformações na economia-mundo capitalista com o alvorecer do século XXI, o governo Lula e os governos moçambicanos protagonizaram, no período analisado, uma inflexão nas relações entre os dois países. A análise crítica das relações Brasil-Moçambique no período abarcado pela presente pesquisa acabam trazendo à tona inúmeros aspectos que podem fornecer evidências sobre como dois países podem desenvolver suas relações, e quais os limites e contradições existentes a partir do desenvolvimento das chamadas relações Sul-Sul, neste caso entre um país semiperiférico e um país periférico.

The present research has as its goal present the progression of the relations between Brazil and Mozambique in the analyzed period. For this puropose, the research starts with an study of this relations in the long duration, since the middle of the 19th century and the "late" peak of the traffic of enslaved people between Mozambique and Brazil; followed for a period of distance between Brazil and Africa as a whole after the Abolition; and, later, for a rapprochement that, since the Independence of Mozambique, in 1975, experienced ups and downs. Amongst transformations in the capitalist world-economy with the dawn of the 21th century, Lula government and the Mozambican governments featured, in the analyzed period, a inflection in the relations between the two countries. The critical analysis of the Brazil-Mozambique relations, in the period that was embraced by the present research turns up countless aspects that can provide evidences on how two countries can develop their relations, and what are the existent limits and contradictions from the development of the so called South-South relations, in this case between a semiperipheral and a peripheral country.
