Neste trabalho são apresentados fundamentos sobre as funções mentais memória e solução de problemas, do ponto de vista das Neurociências, particularmente da Psicologia Cognitiva. Seu objetivo principal é servir de introdução aos temas para professores da área de Desenho em Engenharia. Tais informações poderão ser úteis no planejamento e organização do currículo, na seleção de estratégias de ensino e no processo de avaliação de aprendizagem, ao se considerar as informações aqui contidas em situações rotineiras de sala de aula, como, por exemplo, o uso da solução de problemas como recurso de ensino.

Abstract in English
In this article are presented some theoretical statements about memory and problem solving viewed as mental functions, from Neurosciences, particularly Cognitive Psychology. It’s main goal is introduce the subjects to teachers of Design in Engineering to be used in their tasks of planning curricula, selecting teaching strategies and learning evaluation, related to routine dayly classroom situations, considering for instance, the nature of individual differences on students performance.
