Esta pesquisa apresenta os principais aspectos históricos, arquitetônicos e o comportamento estrutural do Teatro Municipal de São Paulo em termos de deslocamento e de tensões a partir de um modelo numérico tridimensional simplificado e da consideração do comportamento elástico-linear dos materiais. É um dos mais importantes teatros da cidade e um dos cartões postais da capital paulista, tanto por seu estilo arquitetônico, semelhante ao dos mais importantes teatros do mundo, como pela sua importância histórica, por ter sido o palco da Semana de Arte Moderna de 1922, o marco inicial do Modernismo no Brasil. Inicialmente, são abordados aspectos da arquitetura do teatro e seus principais espaços são descritos; também são apresentadas as características geométricas dos elementos estruturais e as características mecânicas dos materiais, bases para a construção do modelo matemático. Em seguida a estrutura do teatro é analisada quanto aos deslocamentos e às tensões, além de abordar a importância das estruturas mistas, aquela em que apoiamos peças novas de concreto armado ou metálicas em paredes de alvenaria. Verifica-se que as regiões do teatro que apresentam os maiores valores de tensões são aquelas que foram alteradas nas reformas ocorridas. Constata-se que o Teatro Municipal é bem concebido e que seus elementos principais possuem um comportamento estrutural adequado.

In this research, the main historical, architectural and structural behavior of the Municipal Theatre of São Paulo in terms of displacement and stresses is presented, based on a simplified three-dimensional numerical model and the consideration of linear-elastic behavior of materials. One of the most important theaters of the city and one of the postcards of São Paulo, as for its architectural style, similar to that of the most important theaters in the world, or for its historical significance as being the stage of the Week of Modern Art in 1922, modernism starting point in Brazil. Initially, different aspects of the architecture of the theatre are discussed and its main areas are described, as well as are presented the geometric characteristics of its elements and the mechanical properties of its materials, bases for the construction of the mathematical model. In the sequence, the structure of the theatre is analyzed in terms of displacements and stresses, besides address the importance of composite structures, one, which we support new pieces of concrete or metal in masonry walls. This research shows that the regions of the theater in which the largest stress values are those that have changed in the reforms that were happening. The analysis done shows that the Municipal Theatre is well designed and that the main elements have adequate structural behavior.
