Abstract in English
Generation, recycling and application of recycled aggregates have been increasingly consolidated internationally. Brazil has advanced in recycling these materials, however its use is not going with the same relevance. Paving activities absorb most of these materials when using base and sub-base layers, as it does not require many advanced recycling processes for its application. The use in filling pavements ditches in is an interesting alternative, looking forward to improving the quality of this type of work. To contribute in this area, the main objective of this research is to analyze in the laboratory the mechanical behavior of recycled aggregate of construction and demolition waste (CDW) and of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), aiming their application in backfilling of trenches. CDW was evaluated with addition of cement and RAP as cold recycled mixture with foam asphalt. For this, physical and mechanical behavior of these two types of recycled aggregates were analyzed, being the latter through resilient modulus and permanent deformation tests in repeated load test equipment, as well as an analysis of the evolution of permanent deformation according to Shakedown theory. The results show that, in general, RCD stabilized with cement and RAP are suitable for application as trench backfill. Besides, recycled aggregates studied in this research can improve the quality of the ditch filling service, having a better destination than landfills.
