Abstract in Portuguese
Esta pesquisa analisa a diferença entre os suportes fotográficos ao longo da história, aprofundando-se nos existentes atualmente e identificando as distintas linguagens desenvolvidas por cada um, assim como os relacionamentos entre fotógrafo e assunto, observador e fotografia (suporte) e, também, fotógrafo e aparato fotográfico. Parte-se de uma análise histórica e contemporânea e de uma produção artística autoral para compreender a importância de cada suporte fotográfico em uso, trazendo à tona a relação entre o filme fotográfico e o suporte digital, além da condição de sobrevida que a lomografia trouxe ao filme fotográfico e sua influência no desenvolvimento de uma nova linguagem na fotografia digital. A dissertação apresenta, também, uma análise da fotografia como libertadora da própria fotografia como representação fiel da realidade.

Abstract in English
This research analyzes the difference between photographic media throughout history, focusing on the current techniques and identifying different languages developed by each medium. This work also evaluates the relationship between photographer and subject, observer and photography, and photographer and photographic equipment as well. Based on a historic analysis and an authorial artistic production to understand the importance of each photographic camera currently in use, this research discusses the relationship between photographic film and digital medium, considering how lomography has contributed to the survival of photographic film and, at the same time, it has also influenced the development of new languages in digital photography. This dissertation also analyzes how photography can liberate itself from its role as a way of faithfully representation of reality.
