O universo da arte e da educação, em contextos destinados à primeira infância, constituiu o foco de estudo desta pesquisa de mestrado, que se realizou através de um íntimo dialogo entre teoria e prática. Através de entrevistas com educadores, arte-educadores e pesquisadores da infância, representantes de uma diversidade de propostas autorais, concretas, contemporâneas e significativas para a educação infantil, tanto no âmbito público como privado; colhi depoimentos que abrangeram os temas: primeira infância: memórias, características e necessidades; os educadores: sua formação e seu papel; o tempo e o espaço em contextos destinados à primeira infância; e as experiências lúdico-poéticas das crianças pequenas. Temas compreendidos como eixos estruturadores da prática cotidiana dos educadores que trabalham com a primeira infância. A documentação destes relatos, não apenas de suas experiências, mas também dos saberes construídos a partir das mesmas, teve como objetivo organizar um material de estudo que possa nutrir reflexões e proposições sobre os temas tratados, expandindo os horizontes desta área de conhecimento, ainda recente e com grande demanda de pesquisa; podendo colaborar para a qualificação das experiências vividas por crianças e educadores nas instituições de educação infantil.

The universe of art and education in contexts for early childhood, was the focus of this research, which took place through an intimate dialogue between theory and practice. Through interviews with educators, art educators and researchers of childhood, representing a diversity of authorial, concrete, contemporary and meaningful propositions to ealry childhood education, in public and private institutions; I collected statements about five subjects: early childhood: memories, characteristics and needs; educators: their formation and their role; concepts of time and space in contexts for early childhood, and playful-poetic experiences of young children. The themes included are considered as structural axes of the everyday practice of educators working with early childhood. The documentation of these reports, not only their experiences but also the knowledge built from them, was conceived to organize a study material that can nourish reflections and propositions on the topics addressed and contribute to the qualification of the experiences of children and educators in early childhood institutions, by expanding the horizons of knowledge in this area, still recent and with great demand for research.
