Este trabalho propõe-se a analisar a obra Antonio Dias produzida nas décadas de 1960 e 1970, mais especificamente entre 1963 e 1977, com o objetivo de identificar seus aspectos centrais: os procedimentos pelo artista mobilizados, assuntos recorrentes, pontos de confluência ou afastamento dentro da sua trajetória. Para tanto, buscou-se examinar seus trabalhos, a fim de extrair os elementos que lhe são constitutivos, mas mantendo sempre o diálogo com o ambiente em que eles foram gerados. Desse modo, a pesquisa tratou de contemplar, ainda, os assuntos que esses contextos suscitavam, como a questão do realismo na vanguarda brasileira, os diálogos entre a obra de Antonio Dias e outras produções (como o nouveau réalisme francês, a pop norte-americana e a arte povera) e, finalmente, a formulação particular que certos procedimentos mais amplos da arte daquele momento assumiam no trabalho do artista.

The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze the work produced by Antonio Dias during the 1960's and 1970's, more precisely between 1963 and 1977, in order to identify its main aspects: its practices, recurring topics, points of convergence and diversity within his course. Through the examination of his work, this text seeks to both determine its primary components and to contemplate the exchanges between Dias' practice and the different contexts from which it has originated. Therefore, this dissertation also intended to investigate the subjects associated with these contexts, for instance, the idea of realism in Brazilian avant- garde in the 1960's, the relation that Antonio Dias' word established with other researches (such as the French Nouveau Réalisme, north-american Pop Art and Arte Povera), and finally, the singular aspect that certain strategies from contemporary art would assume in his work.
