This research aims to investigate an important movement of enunciation and political-cultural construction in the context of black-musical expressions in Rio de Janeiro, in the 1970s, focusing on a group of consecrated contemporary sambistas, all originating of samba schools, among which the composers Candeia (Antônio Candeia Filho), Casquinha (Otto Enrique Trepte), Wilson Moreira and others, who recorded Partido em 5, volumes I and II in 1975 and 1976. Both discs were recorded in an attempt to capture the informal atmosphere of a roda de samba - from their compositions to conversations among them. At that time, there was an intense debate among the artists, mainly sambistas - a group traditionally linked to the poorest classes, mostly black and historically persecuted by the authorities - about the direction of the genre and the samba schools. Thus, this work seeks to understand what, according to the words of the sambas and the conversations among the composers of these albums, seems to indicate a sense of political-cultural contestation about modernist and nationalist interpretations of the genre to the detriment of its black and popular roots. While much of the literature devoted to the transformations of the genre privileges issues related to its affirmation as national music par excellence, this work aims to investigate the repertoire of sambas in the albums in the light of perspectives closer to the black political-cultural enunciation, through historical and musicological analysis that can give light to the criticism of these samba musicians.
