Abstract in English
This research analyzes the costumes created by Helio Eichbauer for the spectacle "O Rei da Vela", written by Oswald de Andrade in 1930 and staged by the Teatro Oficina in 1967, directed by José Celso Martinez Corrêa. The analysis focused on the approach given by the company and the designer to the issue of Brazilian cultural identity, remarking how this notion is modified as the ideologies of Brazilian culture change. We tried to detail how the references used in the creation work were placed artistically at the scene, observing which were the materials and pieces involved, their use and social history in clothing.
