Abstract in English
The aim of this study is to verify the possible equality relations among the covers and the musical content of Dorival Caymmis records. It also studied the authorship of these covers checking to whom the authorship responsibility of changing into image and design the songs of those records was to. For that, semiotics analysis of the first ten records of Caymmi were developed based on peircean theory - , taken into account their market launching context, their authorship references, and the songs the covers had inside. There was also a necessity to make interviews to clarify some doubts that came up during the analysis. What could be found in the end of the study was the strong connection between the covers (visual) and the records (musical), despite the authorship variety. It was also verified during the study something that surprised everyone: the effective presence of Dorival Caymmi in the elaboration of some of these covers.
