Abstract in English
Since the 1990s, digital technology has been transforming the way we inhabit the territory. At the same time, at that time, traditional peoples had their struggles for the defense of the forest recognized by the Brazilian state that linked to them the idea of preserving the Amazonian environment. These struggles were also supported by other actors, such as NGOs and the Catholic Church linked to liberation theology. Given this complex scenario, we aim to understand if the arrival of digital networks in the Suruacá riverside community (PA) has altered any aspect of community communication and influenced the relationship of autonomy and interdependence of the riverside to these and other eventual actors, not necessarily human, who interact with the community.
