Abstract in English
Not always the women had free access to any information content. Novels like Madame Bovary, A Mão e a Luva, A Normalista and O Quinze well represent the major concern of society, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, about what women would should read. Compared to men, they had a different education and some readings were forbidden to their sex. Although not everyone submit themselves to bans, censorship was present and became difficult the appropriation of information. With the development of technology in the second half of the twentieth century, facilitated the access. However, the media continue to give information marked by gender differences and our hypothesis is that the suggested books in the media are also indicated in a stereotyped form. So, using content analysis as a methodological framework and concepts in the theory of effect and the theory of reception, we are going to observe the indications of read present in Claudia and Marie Claire women's magazines and in the Mais Você and Saia Justa television programs. Then, we are going to make a survey of the users in the virtual community Skoob in order to draw a profile of women readers of the XXI century.
