Abstract in Portuguese
O componente cariado correspondeu a 77,28% do ceod.

For data analysis, the dft (decayed and filled teeth), Significant Caries Index (SiC Index), percentage of caries-free children, Gini Coefficient, Dental Health Index and Care Index were determined. The mean dft index was 1.40. Among the examined children, 63.25% were caries-free. The decayed component comprised 77.28% of the dft. The Care Index was 19.70%, indicating limited utilization of dental treatment by children. The Dental Health Index was 0.85, the SIC index was 4.11 and the Gini Coefficient was 0.78 in the survey. The prevalence and severity of dental caries was considered low in the studied sample and it was identified occurrence of the polarization demonstrating the inequality of disease distribution. The educators presented good knowledge about oral health, however, the parents presented more limitations in relation to conceptions about dental caries and the importance of attitudes and practical preventive. The interaction of health professionals, educators and parents will be able to lead new practical and to intend a future with less inequality of dental caries distribution.
