O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar, na perspectiva dos membros das famílias de crianças com câncer, a rede e os tipos de apoio social dessa clientela, de acordo com as experiências relacionadas à fase da doença que estavam vivendo: fase de crise, crônica e terminal. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, fundamentado no referencial teórico da enfermagem familiar na promoção de saúde. Participaram da pesquisa todos os membros de três famílias que possuíam uma criança com câncer, a qual fazia acompanhamento num hospital-escola do interior do Estado de São Paulo, totalizando 15 participantes. Para a coleta de dados, utilizamos entrevistas em profundidade, diário de campo e leitura de prontuários, além do uso do genograma e ecomapa. A análise dos dados foi feita por meio da análise de conteúdo. Os resultados foram agrupados, para cada família estudada, nos apoios emocional, instrumental, informativo, de reforço e espiritual/religioso, variando de intensidade, conforme a fase da doença. Na fase de crise, os principais foram os apoios instrumental e emocional; na crônica, o emocional; na fase terminal, tivemos: o instrumental, no período pré-terminal, e o espiritual e de reforço, no período de resolução da perda. A rede social mais significativa foi constituída pelos familiares mais próximos, mas outros componentes também contribuíram para a formação da teia de relações as quais compuseram essa rede, tais como a família estendida, a comunidade e o hospital. Ao identificar a rede e o apoio social dessa clientela, o pesquisador forneceu subsídios para a sistematização do conhecimento científico, favorecendo a prática e a pesquisa da enfermagem familiar. Espera-se, com este estudo, contribuir para uma avaliação mais ampla das necessidades de apoio social de crianças com câncer e seus familiares, particularmente em seus ajustes à trajetória da doença, com ênfase na promoção da saúde.

This research aimed to identify, from the perspective of family member of children with cancer, these clients' social network and social support types, according to the experiences related to the disease phase they were going through: crisis, chronic and terminal phase. A descriptive study with a qualitative approach was carried out, based on the theoretical framework of family nursing in health promotion. Research participants included all members of three families that had a child with cancer, who was under follow-up at a teaching hospital in the interior of São Paulo State, totaling 15 participants. For data collection, in-depth interviews were used, as well as a field diary and patient file reading, besides the genogram and the ecomap. Data were analyzed through content analysis. For each family under study, the results were grouped into emotional, instrumental, informational, appraisal and spiritual/religious support, ranging in intensity according to the disease phase. In the crisis phase, the main supports were instrumental and emotional; emotional in the chronic phase; in the terminal phase: instrumental support in the pre-terminal period, and spiritual and appraisal support in the period of solving the loss. The most significant social network was constituted by the closest relatives, but other components also contributed to the formation of the network of relationships that made up this network, such as the extended family, the community and the hospital. By identifying these clients' network and social support, the researcher supported to systemization of scientific knowledge, favoring family nursing practice and research. It is expected that this study will contribute to a broader assessment of social support needs of children with cancer and their relatives, particularly in their adjustments to the disease course, emphasizing health promotion.
