Keywords in Portuguese
Ácido sulfídrico
Agentes anti-hipertensivos
Óxido nítrico

Abstract in English
The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of the use of antihypertensive belonging to blockers drugs orders of calcium and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors in plasma hydrogen sulfide and nitric oxide in systemic arterial hypertension carriers. It is a transversal study with a quantitative approach conducted with 36 hypertensive patients in use of antihypertensive classes of inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme and calcium channel antagonists, underwent collection of a venous blood sample for quantification of nitric oxide concentrations and hydrogen sulfide. It was found that the plasma concentration of nitric oxide was significantly higher in hypertensive patients who were using inhibitors of angiotensin converting enzyme (p <0:03) and that the plasma concentration of hydrogen sulfide was significantly greater in hypertensive on channel antagonists calcium (p <0.002). No correlation between these two gaseous mediators was observed during treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or antagonists of calcium channels. These findings suggest that these medications have such additional action mechanism improves endothelial dysfunction by elevating plasma levels of vasodilators, which collaborates with its antihypertensive effects.
