O objetivo da pesquisa foi compreender o sentido dado pelos gestores de escolas públicas à capacitação em gestão escolar. O tema da pesquisa é capacitação de gestores em gestão escolar. Entende-se por capacitação, a ação sistemática de educação para o aperfeiçoamento e o desenvolvimento do indivíduo. As pesquisas sobre capacitação para gestores têm mostrado que há uma lacuna entre o que é ensinado nas formações e a realidade do cotidiano escolar. O método da pesquisa se classifica em abordagem qualitativa, de natureza aplicada, com fins descritivos e estudo de caso como procedimento técnico. Para a coleta dos dados primeiramente foram realizadas análises documentais do material teórico e dos questionários de reação fornecido pelo curso – Formação de Gestores Escolares do Programa Melhor Gestão, Melhor Ensino (MGME) oferecido e elaborado pela Escola de Formação e Aperfeiçoamento dos Professores (EFAP) da Secretaria de Educação do Estado de São Paulo (SEE-SP). A intenção da avaliação desses materiais era potencializar a explicação da relação entre a teoria e a prática, além de compreender o significado objetivo dado pelos gestores a capacitação. Após esta etapa, foram efetuadas entrevistas, com seis dos gestores escolares participantes de uma das duas versões da capacitação. As entrevistas foram utilizadas para coletar os dados relacionados a visão e sentido atribuídos pelos gestores a respeito da realidade das capacitações. Os principais resultados encontrados pela pesquisa foram: significação do sentido dado pelos gestores sobre à capacitação em gestão escolar, descrição das disfunções do desempenho competente da capacitação MGME e proposta de aproximação entre a teoria e prática.

The objective of the research was to understand the sense given by the managers of public schools to the training in school management. The theme of the research is the capacitation of managers when dealing with school management. Capacitation, or managerial training, is understood as the systematic action of education for the improvement and development of the individual. Research on managerial training has shown that there is a gap between what is taught in the classroom and the reality of daily school life. The research method used is classified as qualitative approach, of an applied nature, for descriptive purposes and a case study as a technical procedure. The first step in collecting the data was an analysis of the theoretical material and reaction questionnaires provided and elaborate by the course - Training of School Managers of the Best Management Program, Best Teaching (MGME) provided by the School for Teacher Training and Improvement (EFAP) of the Secretariat of Education of the State of São Paulo (SEE-SP). The intention of the evaluation of these materials was to enhance the explanation of the relationship between theory and practice, as well as to understand the objective meaning given by the managers. After, interviews were carried out with six school managers participating in one of the two versions of the training. The interviews were used to collect the data related to the vision and meaning attributed by the managers regarding the reality of the training. The main results found by the research were: the understanding by the managers on the training in school management, description of the dysfunctions of the competency performance training of the MGME and a proposal of an approximation between theory and practice.
