Zoneamento geoambiental

Abstract in English
The present work consists of the elaboration of a geoenvironmental zoning which has as an object of study the coastal landscape concerning the city of São Vicente (SP). The theoretical - methodological reference which guided the geoenvironmental zoning was the one proposed by CLARK (1974). That proposition prioritizes, from the identification of geoenvironmental units and based on the geological- geomorphological characteristics, three classes of use: preservation, conservation and multiple or intensive use (controlled use). The research phases were conducted according to the methodological procedures of LlBAULT (1971) referring to the four levels of the geographical research: the compiling levei, the correlative, semantic and the normative leveI. In order to do so, cartographical documents were elaborated, pertinent to the physical attributes of the landscape - geology, superficial formation, declivity, the use of the land and geomorphology, in which for the the last ones aerial photographs were taken with distinct temporal series. As an instrument of representation and analysis of the spatial data, the Geographic Information System (GIS) was used, which provided the treatment of the information with more speed due to the diversity of the considered variables. The results obtained confirmed the effectiveness of the techniques and methodologies applied. The geo-environmental zoning developed for the area aims at contributing to the minimization of the environmental problems.
