Abstract in English
This study analyzed the actual and future conflicts in consequence of multiple uses of water in Atibaia River Basin in the state of São Paulo. The uses studied were urban and industrial supply, irrigation and generation of electric power considering the transportation of the water to the metropolitan region of São Paulo city through Cantareira System and the forecast of increasing of water demands to the river basin. The mathematical model MIKE BASIN 2000, which associates simulation techniques, optimization and network flow modeling was utilized in the evaluation of several settings. The results of simulations showed that to supply the increasing demands minimizing the conflicts between the multiple uses of water, it is necessary to improve the minimum flows released by Cantareira System reservoirs and reduce the flows transferred to the metropolitan region of São Paulo city, avoiding the system collapse.
