Neste trabalho relatam-se resultados obtidos durante ações para cumprir uma tentativa de mostrar que a observação de bocas-de-lobo e do funcionamento de componentes do processo para drenagem superficial de vias urbanas podem contribuir para identificar informações que colaborem no aperfeiçoamento da qualidade de condução de água que escoe na superfície de ruas. O procedimento adotado foi estudar conceitos usados para a elaboração e execução de projetos de componentes para drenagem através de informações obtidas em bibliografia, entrevistas a profissionais, e levantamento de dados em campo para análise do comportamento de equipamentos para drenagem, e identificação de interferências entre o fluxo e acumulação de água de chuva nas ruas com o tráfego de veículos e pedestres. Os dados foram obtidos em São Carlos SP, Brasil entre 1992 e 1995.

In this work it was related results obtained from actions trying to demonstrate that the observation of the behavior of inlets and drainage components can contribute to improve the quality of the process to contain and conduct storm water within the surface of streets and pavements. The method was to study information obtained from bibliographical data related with drainage components design, professional interviews and field surveying on behavior of the drainage equipment and the relationships between the storm water conduction and detention with the vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The data were obtained in São Carlos SP, Brazil, during the years 92 to 95.
