Abstract in English
The Response Surface Methodology and the Design of Experiments were applied on the analysis and optimization process of refrigeration systems. The dimensions of a capillary tube and refrigerant charge that provided the best working conditions to a prototype were determined. The behavior of the Refrigeration Capacity, Coeficient of Performance, Discharge Temperature, Super Heating, Sub Cooling, Mass Flow Rate, Evaporation Temperature and Condensing Temperature were studied in detail. Surface Response and Contour plots were constructed on many situations in order to reveal the system behavior and sensitivity. Some factor levels provided a small variability to certain responses, demonstrating the concept of robust system. The methodology contribuited properly with valuable results to the optimization and analysis of refrigeration system behavior; besides, its applicability can be easily generalised to thermal systems.
