Keywords in Portuguese
Dielétricos líquidos
óleo de mamona

Abstract in English
The electrical behavior of the dielectric liquid is still far away from being completely understood. Several phenomena are inexplicable and some are in the phase of more laboratory observations. Within that universe, standards and test procedures are elaborated for guiding the users of those materials in specific applications. In that context, this work draws a parallel between the main researches of the physical phenomena and the current standards, bringing countless contributions besides a few corrections that need to be made in some of them. The important point of the work was also to develop a procedure for the study of new dielectric liquids. Here the castor oil could be studied as a dielectric liquid and to define its main applications and desirable characteristics that should to possess in order to be a probable substitute of the transformer oil.
