Abstract in English
This work is a comparative research of two Modern Movement interpretation, created by two architects: Lucio Costa, in Brazil, and Fernando Távora, in Portugal, who have similar thoughts and actuation. Both are from the first Modern generations and set their investigative work under a plastic inquiry of local culture, appropriating it as the main element of the projective attitude. More than a historical survey, speculates on architectural critical fields, reading the theoretical models and, over all, the mechanisms and practical procedures of projecting. Comparison between the architects stimulates the inquiry of the parameters that define their work, allowing the identification of elements that could be ignored by not been explicit enough. This work intends, therefore, to suggest questions on the historical framing of these architectural projects, giving attention to the followers and their revisory roll of the Modern Movement.
