Esta dissertação realiza uma pesquisa exploratória no âmbito do gerenciamento de risco em projetos de sistemas de informação e pretende comparar o processo de planejamento da resposta ao risco adotado por instituições financeiras com aquele recomendado pela literatura, considerando eventual adaptação para as necessidades da empresa. A pesquisa empírica contempla seis bancos, sendo dois de grande porte, dois de médio porte e dois de pequeno porte. O presente trabalho realiza uma revisão da bibliografia existente sobre o tema e das questões a ele associadas. A partir dessa revisão, foi possível desenvolver o modelo de pesquisa. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada foi o estudo de casos múltiplos, o que permitiu ao pesquisador o aprofundamento em alguns aspectos do processo de planejamento da resposta ao risco adotado por instituições financeiras. A pesquisa foi realizada com base em entrevistas feitas com profissionais que atuam no desenvolvimento de projetos de sistemas de informação nas instituições financeiras pesquisadas. Essas entrevistas foram conduzidas segundo o roteiro elaborado com base no modelo de pesquisa.

This work deals with an explanatory research on risk management in projects of information systems and is intended for the comparison between the planning process of responses to the risk adopted by financial institutions with those processes recommended by the academic sources considering a possible adaptation to the necessities of the company. The empirical investigation considers six banking institutions sized two large, two medium and two small. This essay carries out a revision on the existing bibliography on the subject matter as well on the issues associated. Such a revision made viable the creation of a model of investigation. Methodology utilized was the study of multiple cases, what enabled the researcher to delve deeply into some aspects of the planning project to risk response in financial institutions. The research was conducted based upon interviews with professionals who apply the methodology in the development of information systems for the above mentioned banks. Such interviews were conducted following the scheme built up with support on the research model.
