Abstract in English
Dairy agro-industry, like so many other agroindustrial processes, produces a large volume of effluent, usually discharged into water bodies and often without proper treatment which may cause environmental impact. Application of wastewater in agriculture is presented as a way to minimize this impact by directing treated effluents for irrigation, besides make possible to save water of better quality in agricultural cultivation and has potential to supply nutrients to plants. On the other hand, the increase in salinity in soil due to irrigation with effluent is among the main risks of this practice. Therefore, this work aimed to evaluate the response of japanese cucumber irrigated with treated dairy effluent in different doses and with application of Trichoderma spp.. Three Trichoderma strains (T. asperellum, T. harzianum and T. atroviride) were grown in a culture medium with doses of treated dairy effluent (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100%). T. asperellum strain presented best responses and was selected to be inoculated in soil during cucumber cultivation irrigated with effluent. Cucumber cultivation was carried out with irrigation using treated dairy effluent in four doses (25, 50, 75 and 100%) and in a factorial with Trichoderma asperellum factor (with and without application), in randomized blocks, with four replications. Controls were irrigation with water supply, with or without application of the biological agent. Results showed that irrigation with treated dairy effluent was able to provide nitrogen for system enough to supply nitrogen cover fertilization recommended for this crop at 50, 75 and 100% effluent doses. There was no reduction in leaf nitrogen content in any of the doses evaluated, andat 75% dose there was an increase compare to control. For treatment without T. asperellum application, there was a quadratic adjustment of chlorophyll relative levels (IRC), 75% efluente having the highest rates. The application of fungus favored IRC at 25% dose. On June 21, maximum and average leaf temperature was higher with T. asperellum application at 75% effluent. On July 19, the minimum temperature at 50% dose was lower than control. The application of T. asperellum had positive effect on leaves analysis of cucumber irrigated with effluent. Electrical conductivity of soil saturation extract increased linearly with increase in effluent dose in irrigation water. Results show that application of T. asperellum favored parameters of cucumber irrigated with effluent and that irrigation with treated dairy effluent was able to provide nitrogen for cucumber in cover fertilization. In addition, it was possible to grow cucumber irrigated with treated dairy effluent without productivity loss at 25, 50 and 100% doses and with productivity gain at the 75% dose compared to control. Therefore, there is viability for growing cucumber with irrigation with treated dairy effluent and application of Trichoderma asperellum.
