Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo identificar e quantificar o consumo de frutas e hortaliças "in natura" no município de Piracicaba/SP, e sua implicação no estado nutricional através de uma abordagem socioeconômica. A amostra foi definida a partir de metodologia estatística utilizando técnicas de amostragem probabilística casual simples, com sorteio de domicílios de forma aleatória, considerando a população total residente em Piracicaba. Para o cálculo do tamanho da amostra foi utilizada a fórmula do dimensionamento da amostragem pelas proporções e percentagens. No total foram entrevistadas 277 pessoas, que apresentaram idade média de 37 anos. Aferiu-se que 57% da população entrevistada ingerem as 5 porções de frutas e hortaliças preconizadas por órgãos de saúde, enquanto que 43% ingerem abaixo das recomendações.

This study aimed to identifying and quantifying the intake of fresh fruits and vegetables in Piracicaba/SP, and its involvement in nutritional status through a socioeconomic approach. The sample was defined by statistical methodology using probabilistic techniques of simple random with sampling aleatory households selection considering the residing in Piracicaba population. To calculate the sample size it was used the design sampling for proportions and percentages formula. In total 277 people were interviewed who had a mean age of 37 years. The results showed that 57% of the people interviewed have taken the 5 servings of fruits and vegetables recommended by health agencies, while 43% eat below the recommended.
