Abstract in English
Brazil is the world's leading producer and consumer of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and 70% of production comes from family farming. However, the use of quality seeds is still a challenge, since the rate of use of certified seeds is less than 20% of the area cultivated in Brazil. The main costs for the production of the bean plant are related to fertilizers, especially nitrogen. A viable, economic and environmental alternative to reduce the use of these fertilizers is the use of nitrogen fixing bacteria, such as those of the genus Rhizobium, and the promoters of plant development, such as those of the genus Azospirillum, which favor the symbiosis of the plant with the rhizobia, the development and yield of the plants, and enable the production of quality seeds and the reduction of production costs. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the interference of the application of restricted doses of nitrogen in sowing, associated with the different methods of inoculation with Rhizobium tropici and, or, with Azospirillum brasilense, for the yield, for the quality of the seeds and for the production costs and the economic indicators of the cultivation of beans, the IAC Milênio cultivar, with the plants cultivated in the "dry" and "winter" crops, in conventional or direct sowing and with irrigation. Thus, the research was conducted in the experimental area and in the Seed Analysis Laboratory (LAS) of the Plant Production Department of the University of São Paulo, Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", in Piracicaba, São Paulo. For the studies related to the quality parameters of the plant and of the seeds produced, it was possible to conclude that the inoculation of the seed or of the furrow of the sowing, with Rhizobium tropici and, or, with Azospirillum brasilense, replaces the application of 60 kg ha-1 of nitrogen in cover, favors the nodulation, the yield and the quality of the seeds produced by the plants of the bean plant. The cultivation of the bean plant in the "dry" harvest is recommended, because it favors the physiological parameters of the seeds produced. The development and yield of the bean plants benefit from cultivation in conventional sowing. For the studies regarding other methods of inoculation of microorganisms, the results made it possible to conclude that the cultivation of the bean plant in the "winter" harvest favors the yield of seeds, however, the plant cultivated in the "dry" harvest produces seeds with superior quality. Soil development for conventional sowing favours the development and yield of bean plants. The application of 20 kg ha-1 of nitrogen in the sowing and the inoculation of the seed or the furrow of the sowing, with Rhizobium tropici, and, or, the inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense in the leaves of the plant, in stage V3, or V4, or R5, are viable techniques, because they favor the nodulation, the development and the yield of the plants, the physiological parameter of the seeds produced and reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizer in the cultivation of the bean plant. Regarding the economic analysis of the crop, it concludes that the bean plant cultivated in the "winter" harvest benefits the yield of the seeds and the profit of the crop. The cultivation of bean plants in conventional or direct sowing is economically viable, but in technical terms, cultivation in direct sowing reduces plowing operations and, or, grid the soil and, consequently, the cost of production. The application of 20 kg ha-1 of nitrogen in sowing associated with inoculation with Rhizobium tropici and, or, with Azospirillum brasilense, regardless of the mode of application, favors the yield and profit of growing the bean plant. Inoculations with Rhizobium tropici and, or, with Azospirillum brasilense are alternatives to replace the application in 60 kg ha-1 nitrogen coating, which increases the production cost of the bean plant.
