The yield of the many ornamental species decreases sharply in the fall and winter seasons due to the decrease in solar radiation and temperature. The goal of this study was to verify the response of two Impatiens hybrid hort cultivars Sunpatiens Compact Royal Magenta and Sunpatiens Compact White to supplemental light with the use of LEDs (light emitting diodes) light in differents proportions of red and blue (83:17; 75:25; 67:33 and 50:25:25). Plants were grown at nursery greenhouse in Atibaia - SP, with diffuser film in the coverage and shade screens installed internally in the greenhouse. The night air temperature was controlled at 21°C, using a heater when necessary and the daytime temperature was controlled around 28°C. The mothers plants were grown in plastic boxes (36 cm wide x 56 cm long x 14 cm height) on metal benches. The capacity of each box was 12 plugs, spaced 12 x 14 cm and filled with a media composed of 50% vermiculite and 50% perlite. Lights were placed at 1,0 m distance from the plants base, emitting radiation with intensity of 150 µmol m-2s-1, with wavelength peak in the blue 460- 470 nm and two red peaks 620-630 nm and 640-660 nm. The supplemental light began on February at 2018 in the plugs transplant day and was maintained for seven months until end of the experiment, with 12 hours of artificial light (6:00 am - 6:00 pm). The yield and quality of both mother plants, as well as of the cuttings collected from these plants and the cuttings rooting in trays were evaluated by biometrics characteristics, pigments biochemical analysis, antioxydants enzymes, stress indicators, photosynthetic activity and trichomes counting. It was observed that the Impatiens response varied according to the growing season. In the winter season, 202 DAT (days after transplant), the LED array 83R: 17B increased the number of cuttings per plant in 35.4% compared to the control. The performance of Royal Magenta cultivar, which has reddish leaves, differed from the cultivar White, which has green leaves in response to the use of artificial lighting, mainly due to the higher concentration of anthocyanin of the cultivar Royal Magenta. The illumination effect during the cuttings production continued in the final phase of the plugs production, in a three-week period due to more compact to plug production from 83R:17B treatment with the White cultivar. The light supplemention in different spectral proportions did not cause oxidative stress of the Impatiens mothers plants, maintaining its quality.
