Esta dissertação apresenta um estudo sobre a coleção de obras raras custodiada pelo Museu de Arqueologia Bíblica do Centro Universitário Adventista de São Paulo (MAB do UNASP), enquanto acervo museológico. Inicialmente, aborda as principais implicações da natureza bibliográfica dos itens raros e discute os processos que viabilizam a sua institucionalização como objetos museológicos. Posteriormente, este trabalho acadêmico analisa a estruturação do MAB e os procedimentos de salvaguarda empregados em seu acervo, sobretudo acerca das raridades. Como parâmetro, examina a gestão das obras raras que estão sob a responsabilidade do Museu de Arte Sacra de São Paulo (MAS). Ao final, este estudo apresenta uma sugestão de ficha de catalogação para os exemplares raros incorporados ao Museu de Arqueologia Bíblica do UNASP, a fim de assegurar a sua devida identificação como fontes de informações sobre contextos sociais, culturais e históricos, promover a sua conservação adequada, bem como a sua eficiente comunicação ao público.

This dissertation presents a study about the rare books collection, which has been under the care of the Museum of Biblical Archaeology of the Adventist University Center of Sao Paulo (MAB of UNASP), as a museological collection. At first, it approaches the main implications of the rare items as bibliographic materials and it discusses the processes that enable their institutionalization as museological objects. Afterwards, this academic work analyzes the MAB structuring and the safeguard procedures employed in its collections, especially concerning the rarities. As a parameter, it examines the rare books management that have been under the responsibility of the Museum of Sacred Art of Sao Paulo (MAS). Lastly, this study submits a suggestion of cataloguing worksheet to the rare items incorporated into the Museum of Biblical Archaeology of UNASP, in order to ensure their appropriate identification as sources of information on social, cultural and historic contexts, foster their proper conservation, as well as their efficient communication to the public.
