O Museu Paulista da Universidade de São Paulo implementou o Plano Diretor da instituição em 1990. De autoria do Professor Dr. Ulpiano Bezerra de Meneses, este documento foi responsável por estabelecer definitivamente o Museu Paulista enquanto instituição atuante no campo da história e da cultura material. Além disso, este documento estabeleceu também a atual política de aquisição de acervo da instituição. Esta dissertação procurou abordar os aspectos formais de tal política e suas consequências para as práticas de aquisição de acervo do Museu Paulista, seja por doação ou compra, no período de 1990 a 2015.

The Paulista Museum of the University of São Paulo implemented the Master Plan of the institution in 1990. Under the authorship of Dr. Ulpiano Bezerra de Meneses, this document was responsible for definitively establishing the Museu Paulista as an institution active in the field of history and material culture. In addition, this document also established the institution's current collection policy. This dissertation sought to address the formal aspects of such a policy and its consequences for the acquisition practices of the Museu Paulista collection, either by donation or purchase, from 1990 to 2015.
