Keywords in Portuguese
Biocombustíveis
Biomassa
Eletricidade
Gases de efeito estufa
Mudanças climáticas

Abstract in English
The overall objective of this work was to develop a comparative analysis tool for biofuels for electric power generation, accessible to researchers and decision makers. For this, the contextualization of the following themes was initially carried out: climate change, energy security, electric energy and fuels. Subsequently, the tool for comparative fuel analysis was developed, based on physicochemical data and GHG emissions linked to the biofuels included in this study. The tool was developed by two methods, one Individual, which compares two fuels and presents data and comparative information on both, and the second Collective, in which it is possible to compare information on fuels simultaneously. After the construction of the tool the same was made available for public consultation, through disclosure in the open format. In addition, fuel comparison rankings were elaborated with the purpose of summarizing the information obtained in the calculation tool on a scale of promising fuels from the point of view of energy generation, GHG emission and comparison between the two variables. Through the results obtained it was possible to verify that there are biofuels with greater energy capacity than the fuels of fossil origin traditionally used; that all biofuels analyzed have a lower emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) tied to their activities in relation to fossil fuels; and that there are biofuels with high energy capacity and low GHG emissions that can be used to generate electricity
