A tuberculose bovina é uma doença causada pelo Mycobacterium bovis que afeta, principalmente, bovinos e búfalos. Para compreender melhor a distribuição da tuberculose bovina no país o presente trabalho teve como objetivo proceder a caracterização molecular de isolados de M. bovis de diferentes regiões do Brasil. No total 289 isolados provenientes de 11 estados brasileiros foram genotipados pelas técnicas de Spoligotyping e VNTR-MIRU com 24 marcadores diferentes, sendo o primeiro estudo com isolados de diferentes regiões do Brasil caracterizados por meio dessas técnicas. Foram identificados 42 espoligotipos e os perfis SB0121, SB0295, SB1380, SB0140 e SB1050 foram os mais frequentes, além disso três novos espoligotipos foram descritos. Por meio da técnica de VNTR-MIRU 173 perfis distintos foram caracterizados, mostrando alta diversidade desse agente no Brasil. Os marcadores com maior diversidade alélica foram: ETR-A, QUB11b, MIRU 16, MIRU 27, ETR-B, ETR-C, Mtub21 e QUB 26, sugerindo esse conjunto de marcadores capaz de caracterizar os isolados de M. bovis no Brasil.

Bovine tuberculosis is a disease caused by Mycobacterium bovis that mainly affects cattle and buffalo. To better understand the distribution of bovine tuberculosis in the country, the present work aimed to characterize the molecular isolates of M. bovis from different regions of Brazil. In total, 289 isolates from 11 Brazilian states were genotyped by the Spoligotyping and VNTR-MIRU with 24 different markers, being the first study with isolates from different regions of Brazil characterized by these techniques. Forty-two spoligotypes were identified and the profiles SB0121, SB0295, SB1380, SB0140 and SB1050 were the most frequent, in addition three new spoligotypes were described. Through the VNTR-MIRU technique 173 distinct profiles were characterized, showing high diversity of this agent in Brazil. The markers with the highest allelic diversity were: ETR-A, QUB11b, MIRU 16, MIRU 27, ETR-B, ETR-C, Mtub21 and QUB 26, suggesting this set of markers capable of characterizing M. bovis isolates in Brazil.
